Dons spread Christmas cheer in children’s ward
David Martin delivers presents in the children's ward
FATHER Christmas visited the children’s ward at Milton Keynes Hospital disguised as the MK Dons squad on Thursday to spread some festive cheer.
David Martin, Ian McLoughlin, Mathias Doumbe, Daniel Powell, Tom Flanagan - with his own foot in plaster courtesy of a broken foot - youth team stars Charlie Burns and Mason Spence and goalkeeping coach Paul Heald met poorly youngsters in wards 4 and 5 as part of their annual trip to the hospital.
As well as handing out gifts, they posed for pictures and signed autographs for parents and the nurses, while chatting to the patients and bringing them some festive cheer.
Goalkeeper David Martin said: “When you come down here and give presents out, you can see what a difference it makes. It’s priceless to make a difference at this time of year.
“It’s humbling to see what the kids and of course their parents go through, but it’s nice to know we can come here and brighten up their day.

“I look at my mum getting ready for Christmas and she’s panicking that she isn’t ready, but when you throw a sick child into it, it must be a nightmare. I think we’re all greatful to be in the position we are and I wish everyone here all the best.
“You walk around the wards and you begin to see more and more MK Dons stuff! In Milton Keynes, people are beginning to sit up and recognise us now. Hopefully the only way is up now.”
