Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after two newsagents were robbed yesterday (3/7).

Staff at Shenley News, Shenley Church End, were shutting the store just before 7pm when two men walked under the shutters saying they wanted to buy something. After purchasing a bottle of cola, one of the men walked behind the till and showed staff a knife, demanding they open the till. They stole about £4 before leaving the shop.

In the second incident, two white men entered Great Holm Stores, Great Holm, 15 minutes later at 7.10pm. They asked for cigarettes and as the assistant handed them over, they both pulled out knives, threatened him, and snatched the till tray.

The two men involved are both white. There is no other description available.

Det Con Matthew Hemming, investigating the incidents, said: “Although no-one was hurt in the robberies, the staff members were left shaken and upset. At this stage we believe these two robberies are linked and are keen to trace the people responsible.

“Anyone with any information should contact me via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505.”
