PROBLEM SOLVING students are connecting their learning to the workplace after working to solve a problem for the Open University.

Ten Year 9 pupils from The Milton Keynes Academy visited the OU to come up with ideas to persuade employees not to drive to work.

More than 4,000 people work at the Walton Hall building, yet there are just 2,389 car parking spaces.

This was the first event in the new ‘Fresh Minds’ project launched by city-based education business partnership organisation Countec and pupils enjoyed their experience.

Students worked in two teams and OU Head of Properties, Regions and Finance Dorian Holloway praised their ideas.

He said: “We will look at the best ideas, do feasibility work and take it from there.”
