An online entrepreneur is joining forces with Milton Keynes College to train the next generation of business leaders.

The college will be one of the first in the country to offer Social and Digital Media Apprenticeship courses where students will learn how to use sites like Twitter and Facebook for sales, marketing and networking opportunities.

Penny Power, founder of online networking site Ecademy, has designed the course for students who are looking to use these skills for business. They will be taught how to blog effectively, plan online content and produce digital newsletters.

Adi Gupta, head of computing and IT at the college, said: “The use of digital media is becoming an indispensable tool for businesses, especially in the small and medium enterprises sector. Young people are so comfortable with social media because they take it for granted as a normal and ever-present part of their lives.”
