Students are set for a fund-raising marathon at one city school – and everyone is getting in on the action.
Giffard Park Primary School’s chosen charity this year is the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
Pupils are participating in a sponsored challenge to complete a task 26 times – from completing an obstacle course 26 times to running backwards around the playground 26 times.
Headteacher Glenn Booth will undertake his own “26 times” challenge, running a mile 26 times in the London Marathon on April 21.
Mr Booth said: “When the Student Council approached me I thought they were joking.
“The charity is also important to me, personally, as I lost my father-in-law to the disease.”
So far £1,300 has been raised – visit www.justgiving.com/gbooth4mnda to sponsor Mr Booth.
