The Hazeley Academy has appointed a new principal.

Tony Nelson takes up the role after first joning the school as senior vice-principal in 2012. He had been acting principal since June, and was previously acting principal at Roade School and Sports College in Northants.

The Hazeley Academy opened 10 years ago and today has 1,500 students.

Mr Nelson said: “It is a pleasure and a privilege to work with the staff, students, parents and Directors at The Hazeley Academy.

“I approached the role of acting principal with a clear focus on the long term needs of the Academy, consequently staff, students and other stakeholders should not notice any significant changes in the direction, pace or style of the leadership of the Academy following my permanent appointment.”
