Once upon a time in a place called Oldbrook, a group of Busy Bees had a wonderful time dressing up and planting flowers...

Children at Busy Bees nursery celebrated their love of books by dressing up as their favourite literary heroes.

Fictional characters including the Gruffalo, Fireman Sam, Minnie Mouse, princesses and pirates were all brought to life as tots shared their favourite tales.

Nursery manager Lorraine Harben said: “Storytime is always a priority here at Busy Bees to support reading, writing and speech development.”

The tots have also been developing their green fingers.

They have been busily planting seeds in the hope that they will grown into beautiful flowers.

After decorating their pots using their own designs, the youngsters filled them with soil before planting a sunflower seed.
