Pupils enjoy Chinese New Year

YOUNGSTERS at Sherington Church of England School have been enjoying a range of fun and educational activities including marking Chinese New Year.

They celebrated by cooking vegetable stir fry and traditional money envelopes containing gold (chocolate) coins.

Research into snakes, to denote the Year of the Snake, added some thrills to lessons and dragon puppets provided characters for storytime.

Year 1 found a fairy hunt helpful for boosting numeracy lessons, while literacy activities based around traditional tales including Robin Hood tapped into their love of adventures.

Staff also ensured plenty of extra support by providing pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and organising Jewish dancing in assembly.
