Patients at one of Milton Keynes Community Health Services’ in-patient units were able to enjoy some eggs-traordinarily nice chocolate this Easter, thanks to staff and the League of Friends.
The patients at Windsor Intermediate Care Unit (WICU), in Bletchley, were each given an Easter egg to enjoy, funded by the League of Friends. Staff also donated eggs and other Easter treats for a raffle, with all the money raised going towards new outdoor furniture so patients can enjoy the unit’s garden more.
WICU provides a short-term programme of nursing and therapy for people who need a period of rehabilitation to enable them to regain functioning, independence and confidence to return safely to their own home. The aim of the nurse-led unit is to get people back home within three weeks.
The League of Friends also supply daily newspapers for patients to read and volunteers provide a library trolley.
