Specialist officers are today examining a brook popular with dog walkers after reports it is contaminated with a diesel-like substance.
Residents in Tattenhoe reported a strange smell coming from the brook at Tattenhoe Valley.
It is understood it contains a substance that looks and smells like diesel fuel.

Hide AdParks Trust officers were called and dog owners have been warned not to allow their pets in the water until the issue has been resolved.
It is an offence to cause or knowingly permit water pollution by discharging poisonous, noxious or polluting matter into inland rivers, canals and brooks.
The culprit, if caught, can face a hefty fine or even imprisonment.
