A FORMER soldier will be cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End to raise vital funds for Help for Heroes.

David Wallace, who works as a PE teacher at Ousedale school, Newport Pagnell, was a member of the TA – 7 Rifles – and in 2009 he was called up to the regular army to serve as a rifleman.

He was in a forward operating base in Afghanistan and saw 13 men from his battalion killed.

Now he is keen to help raise money for the work that Help for Heroes do, particularly in helping injured servicemen and women.

David set off with friends Ed Coy and Andy Cracknell on Sunday for a challenge that should last 12 days.
