The family of Ashley Gillard have issued a statement following the sentencing of his killer Thomas White at Luton Crown Court yesterday.

Ashley was left to die by his gay lover when he suffered a fit following a bondage sex session.

White was in a rage after boyfriend Ashley admitted he was HIV positive.

When hairdresser Ashley, who was tied up, became ill due to the cocktail of drugs he had taken, White ignored his distress and left him to die in his flat in Trevithick Court, Wolverton.

Ashley is believed to have died on Friday, June 5 last year.

But a court heard he returned to the flat several days later and set fire to it to cover his tracks and incinerate his dead lover’s body.

White was given an extended prison sentence for manslaughter of 13 years and nine months.

Ashley’s family said:“We will never truly know what happened to Ashley on that day.

“It’s something that will haunt us forever. We now begin our life sentence without Ashley.

“A huge thank you to the police, family, friends, Ashley’s friends, our employers and work colleagues for your support throughout this horrific nightmare and for your continued support.”
