The Rotary Club of Milton Keynes has celebrated a successful 2015 with two final charity donations.

A £1,000 donation to Milton Keynes-based international aid charity World Vision will be used to support refugees from the Syrian conflict. The charity’s work is protecting babies, children and their families in the refugee camps, including nursing mothers and pregnant women.

A £600 donation to End Polio Now, run by Rotary International, will be matched twice by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to increase the value to £1,800.

Douglas Campbell, past president of The Rotary Club of Milton Keynes, said: ”I suffered polio in 1952, well before a vaccine was available, and I know the damage this dreadful virus can do.

“I look forward to celebrating just as soon as the World Health Organisation declares the world polio free and until then, like us, Rotarians all over the world will work to achieve this.”
