Firefighter Steve Moore has thanked everyone for their support and generosity following his week-long charity fundraising challenge in Milton Keynes.
He stepped off his treadmill at 11am yesterday (Sunday) after completing 369 miles - the equivalent of 14 marathons - at Midsummer Place Shopping Centre.
Although Steve missed out on the world record, which stands at 468 miles, the event has raised at least £4,000 to be shared between the British Red Cross and Help Our Wounded.
The finish was timed to coincide with the start of yesterday’s two-minute silence.
Steve said: “The support I received during the week inspired me to keep going. I would like to thank everyone who came along and encouraged me, along with my back-up team and the staff at Midsummer Place.
“After being here all week, it’s going to be strange not being here tomorrow. People are already telling me that I should have another go at the world record, but it’s a bit too soon to be thinking about it.”
Thanks to a special diet, he lost less than half a stone in weight during the week.
