A 24-hour strike will see firefighters take to the picket line to fight against pension cuts.

From 9am this morning, members of the Fire Brigades Union took industrial action for the 46th time.

Bucks Fire & Rescue Service has plans in place to provide an emergency response in Milton Keynes during the strike with emergency calls where lives are at risk being prioritised.

Matt Wrack, FBU general secretary, has called on all firefighters to get behind their sacked colleague Ricky Matthews by joining a march this morning.

High-ranking FBU member Ricky Matthews from Bletchley was dismissed last month for “gross misconduct” by BRFS after 17 years’ service.
