AN engineering company in Bletchley has been fined £30,000 after a worker was killed by a reversing lorry on its premises.
Bryn Evans, 52, died in April 2009 at Trevett Engineering Ltd, where he worked as a banksman. As he guided a reversing heavy goods vehicle towards the loading area he became trapped between the vehicle and a brick wall. He died at the scene from crushing injuries.
Milton Keynes County Court heard this week that Mr Evans had not received training for his job.
Trevett Engineering pleaded guilty to breaching section 2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 after a Health and Safety Executive said a banksman was not needed in that area.
On Monday, the company was fined £30,000 and ordered to pay costs of £11,630.
