Flagging up their support for Tibet

Friends and supporters filled the Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple at Willen Lake to see Mayor of Milton Keynes, Keith McLean, raise the Tibetan Flag.

Chonpel Tsering, representing the Dalai Lama, and Lama Rigzin blessed the flag before it was raised.

A team of 15 flagbearers carried Tibetan flags around Willen Lake, raising awareness of the plight of Tibetans for whom, living under Chinese occupation, it is illegal to possess even an image of their national flag.

Guests and friends then gathered in the temple to enjoy refreshments while watching a documentary film, The Road to Peace, following the Dalai Lama on a visit to the UK.

Organiser Catherine Mostyn Scott said: “I’m delighted that so many people turned out to support this event, now in its third year, and show their compassion for the people of Tibet.

“Many thanks go to Sister Maruta for her kindness and generosity in letting us use this beautiful venue.”
