Former model wins Master Extensionist Award in Milton Keynes

Rachel Roper, who gave up a modelling career to run her own hair extension business, has been rewarded with a Master Extensionist award.

She’s one of the first in the country to receive the award from Beauty Works, a company that supplies luxury human hair extensions to salons and independents.

It was while working as a model and wanting extensions in her own hair that Rachel had the idea for a career change.

“At the time, it was only really celebrities who wore extensions,” she said.

“Not many places did hair extensions privately and if you went to a salon the prices were exorbitant.

“I saw a gap in the market and decided to go for it.”

After going back to college to gain a diploma, Rachel set up Angel Hair Extensions, an independent company offering affordable extensions using high-quality human hair.

The range of extension methods Rachel uses include micro rings, micro wefts and the latest LA weave.

Dina Andreous, a local beauty works account manager, said: “We launched the brand-new Master Extensionist Award in November and Rachel is the first person in Milton Keynes to receive it.

“I nominated her because I’ve seen her business go from strength to strength.

“What’s so special about Rachel is that she really cares about her clients.”

Rachel – whose clients include models and TV presenters – was surprised and delighted to get the award.

She added: “When I heard I was being given it I was over the moon.

“It’s such a privilege to be recognised as an expert in the hair extension industry.

“It feels like all my hard work has finally paid off and I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved.”
