A FORMULA One fan won two VIP tickets to the Red Bull Milton Keynes Home Run event – simply by changing a tyre.

As Michael Squires left Asda in Bletchley he was drawn to a competition which invited shoppers to try to change a Red Bull car tyre in the quickest time.

He said: “It was the day before the Red Bull event and as I was leaving the store I thought, why not have a go. I knew it was a quick time when I did it and even the staff at Asda couldn’t beat it.”

But Michael set the extremely fast time of just 7.2 seconds, which is quick considering a team of professionals change a full set in 3.5 seconds under race conditions.

He said: “They called me that night and told me I had won and I was over the moon. I took my fiancee the next day and it was amazing. I got to take pictures with the cars as well as David Coulthard and Sebastian Vettel.”

As well as winning the tickets Michael also won a host of other prizes including a case of Red Bull, various pieces of Red Bull merchandise and a piece of the main bodywork from one of the cars, which had been made into a glass paperweight.

“I was brought up around cars as my stepdad owns a business in that area so I have been changing tyres for years,” he said.

“It was great to be able to use all the equipment that the professionals use to change the wheels.

“It was amazing that I won such great prizes just for going to Asda to get my weekly shopping.”
