A 170-mile cycle ride and run has raised over £3,000 for charity thanks to five colleaues from the restaurant at Frosts Garden Centre in Woburn Sands.

On Monday, June 30, Sam Pateman, Ricky Reeve, Ricky Chesse, Ryan Mitchel and Alex Simmons swapped their aprons for bright pink, Frosts-sponsored lycra outfits, for their biggest ever challenge and cycled 150 miles to Northampton in just two days.

They then ran the remaining 20 miles to the Garden Centre on the third day where they were greeted by a homecoming party of their friends, family and colleagues.

The five friends were inspired to complete the challenge by Sophie and Charlotte Standen and Emily and Charlotte Brazier, who sadly lost their mums to cancer within six months of each other.

All money raised is going to Bereavement for Children UK, Macmillan Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK.

Sam Pateman said: “We’re really pleased to have completed the challenge, it took a lot of training but it was all worth it to raise so much money for these amazing charities.

“Thank you so much to everyone who supported us with sponsorship, to Glyn and Halfords for the bikes, and to Frosts for the lycras.”

James Frost, managing director at Frosts Garden Centre, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the boys, they took on a huge challenge and worked incredibly hard to train and complete it.

“We’re glad to have been able to support them along the way and to have welcomed them back to the Centre to celebrate on Thursday.”
