It was a case of lights fantastic when the Midsummer Place Christmas lights were officially switched on at the weekend.
The shopping centre hosted its first ever Christmas lights spectacular with the centre’s iconic oak tree dazzling with thousands of twinkling lights and decorations.
The event kicked off on Saturday with a parade led by a dozen mascots including Gully Mouse, a giant snowman, a cracker and some elves.
The parade convergedon the oak tree where people gathered to sing a Christmas carol before the lights burst into life, marking the start of Christmas shopping in the centre. Martin Hindson, centre manager, said: “The centre was extremely busy at the weekend and showed that people have already started their Christmas shopping.
“The parade was a wonderful end to a busy day and full of festive spirit among our young shoppers and families.”
