Men wearing balaclavas raided a supermarket on New Year’s Eve and stole an undisclosed quantity of cash.
Just one hour before the new year, three or four men forced entry to a door of the Tesco store in Stratford Road.
The gang, all wearing long dark coats, fled the scene in a vehicle, possibly a Seat Leon.
Det Sgt Simon Tyas said: “I would appeal to anyone with any information to contact police immediately. Perhaps you know someone who has come into a substantial amount of cash since New Year’s Eve, or you recognise the description of the offenders and vehicle used in the offence. Anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant you think it might be, is urged to contact us via 101.
“If you don’t want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
“I would like to reassure local residents that we are conducting a thorough investigation into this burglary and would like to thank Tesco customers for their patience while we carry out enquiries at the store.”
