There’s no better way of getting into the festive spirit than with a bit of Christmas shopping, but what comes next can leave you tangled in tape – wrapping. Well, fear not! intu Milton Keynes has teamed up with the

Cornerstone Christmas Appeal to bring the gift wrapping service back for another year.

The intu Milton Keynes and Cornerstone Christmas Appeal gift wrap service started at 9am today, Black Friday, with Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Keith McLean, officially

launched it at 12pm. It is stationed next to the customer information desk and available daily until Christmas Eve.

There are 19 charities involved, including; Open Door, Advantage Africa, Age UK Milton Keynes, Hope for Hollie and Willen Hospice; each will receive a share of the funds raised.

intu Milton Keynes is providing all of the wrapping materials so 100% of the donations go to the charities.

Allison Waterhouse, Senior Community Fundraiser at Willen Hospice, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled and extremely grateful to once again be taking part in the charity gift

wrapping at intu Milton Keynes, as organised by The Church of Christ the Cornerstone. We need to raise around £7 every minute of the year to keep our services available to the local

community - without the support of that community, we simply couldn’t do what we do. The gift wrapping service represents a wonderful opportunity for us to meet members of the

public and help raise funds to support the specialist end-of-life care provided at Willen Hospice.”

The Cornerstone Christmas Appeal, now in its fourth year, is part of Christ the Cornerstone in the city centre; it works with many charities to help raise vital funds. Last year, the Appeal

raised £5,000 for the charities that took part in the intu Milton Keynes gift wrap service, and £15,000 overall.

To make sure everyone is feeling festive, there will also be local choirs performing daily on Central Boulevard from Monday 14 December until Christmas Eve, and a brass band on

Saturday December 19. Times will be available on the intu Milton Keynes website.

Shelley Peppard, general manager at intu Milton Keynes, says: “The gift wrap service is invaluable for those that don’t enjoy wrapping presents and for a small donation, our shoppers can get everything sorted before they even get home, and without picking up the sticky tape! The service will be running more frequently this year so we hope that’ll mean we raise lots of money for all of the very worthy charities that are taking part.”
