City residents can take part in an interactive weekend packed with ideas on saving money and energy as Milton Keynes Council is organising an exciting energy event at Midsummer Place on 16 -17 June as part of the European Union’s Sustainable Energy Week.

Promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy, the event will include:

New free home insulation offer – Cocoon is now able to offer cavity wall and loft insulation for free to all homeowners and private renters, down from the previous deal of £95.

Free lights - LED, next generation, low energy lights, from IKEA; one per household, while stocks last.

Bicycle power generator display – try it yourself and see the difference between powering a tungsten lamp and a low energy one.

IMAGINE MK 2050 - what will be the future of energy in Milton Keynes? We want your ideas.

Martin Davies, the council’s Carbon Manager, said: “If you want information you can trust, make the council’s Low Carbon stand your first stop for impartial advice about how to save energy and money.

“There’ll be lots of help and advice on understanding how to generate your own energy, information on green issues such as how we can turn our waste into green energy and greener travel options.”
