Green fingered gardeners still have a few weeks to buy a discounted compost bin as prices are set to increase from next month.
The cheapest compost bin currently on offer by Milton Keynes Council’s supplier is £16.98 with a £5.49 delivery charge. There is also a Buy One Get One Half Price Offer, adding extra value to residents with larger gardens or those who team up with a friend or neighbour to buy a bin.
Anyone who would like to find out more about home composting is invited to come along to a free workshop organised by Milton Keynes Council’s Recycling Team at The Hanson Centre, Wolverton Road, Great Linford on April 5 to get the best advice from a composting expert.
The workshop will take place from 10am to 11.30am and there will be some fun activities for children. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place.
Councillor David Hopkins, Milton Keynes Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Waste, said: “While we encourage residents to put their food and garden waste in their green bins, home composting selected kitchen and garden waste provides significant benefits for our gardens and the wider environment.
“While the new deal still offers superb value, I’d encourage anyone thinking of getting into composting to buy a bin before the end of March to save that little bit extra – and to attend our free composting workshop.”
Milton Keynes Council has teamed up with compost bin provider Evergreener who sells the bins on the council’s behalf – residents can access their web page via the council website www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/compost or directly at www.getcomposting.com, alternatively call 0844 571 4444.
