Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery on Saturday.

A 21-year-old woman was walking along Daniels Welch when she heard the sound of a bike behind her. The man on the bike asked the victim for the time and she replied that it was 9.50pm.

The victim continued walking along the pathway past the park towards Garraways. As she walked up some steps, the man who had asked her the time appeared again and demanded her bag. The man then repeated his demand for the bag, saying that something bad would happen. The victim then threatened to scream and shout out and the offender cycled off empty handed towards Robins Hill.

The offender is described as white, between 17 and 18-years-old, and between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 8ins. He is slim, with a clean shaven slim face and light coloured eyes. He was wearing a dark grey hooded top with a drawstring hood which was worn up and a black horizontal stripe across the chest, and dark coloured baggy bottoms. He spoke with a local accent and the bike he was riding was possibly a BMX.

Thames Valley Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information about the offender.

Anyone with any information should contact Det Con Wendy Cissell via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 101.
