PUPILS from six city schools pitched up at Abbey Hill Golf Centre for the second annual MK Golf Festival.

Last Monday, children between eight and 11-years-old were put through their paces in a number of putting and chipping challenges.

After two hours of golfing the Two Mile Ash team of Bella Dominique, Mia Emerton, Michaela Icney, Mathew Ward, Jack Davies and Max Davies came out on top of the leaderboard.

Newton Longville’s team – Jack James, Nikolas Batt, Hannah Whitting, Charlotte Beckley, Mia Taub and Alex Ross – finished second, while the Caroline Haslett team of Eva Gilet, Tanya Kalra, Juanita Koomson, Aman Sadiq, Harry Samme and Joe Tysoe finished third.

Robin Cheng and David Armor are the public pay-and-play facility’s expert PGA professionals and were on hand to help the children and present awards along with mascot Chip the Bear.

Gordon Forster, Abbey Hill Golf Centre general manager, said: “There was some excellent golf and beaming smiles on show. Robin and David have worked extremely hard with more than 50 local schools over the past two years and have had great support from all the staff, parents and the children themselves.”
