PROMOTING public transport in the borough will be made easier thanks to two special grants which have been been awarded to Milton Keynes.
The city is to benefit from a cash injection as part of a £70 million Better Bus Area (BBA) fund to boost growth, improve partnerships with bus companies and increase bus passenger numbers.
A £2.2 million grant will be used to expand Real Time Passenger Information to include audio visual information on buses to help people with disabilities use the bus network, as well as providing web and mobile access.
Meanwhile, a plan to bring eco-friendly buses to our streets has received a boost after Milton Keynes Council successfully won a £640,000 contribution.
The money, won in partnership with world leading professional project engineers ARUP, was awarded from the government’s Green Bus Fund to help pay for a scheme to get eight electric buses on to the city’s roads, hopefully within 18 months.
