Greg bows out of Strictly Come Dancing competition

Greg Rutherford has been voted out of the Strictly Come Dancing competition in week nine - leaving Ed Balls to jive into the last six.

The Woburn Sands long jumper was eliminated in an all-Olympian dance off on Sunday night against 4”7 gymnast Claudia Fragapane.

To the shock of many viewers, Ed Balls was voted through by the British public, despite only scoring 23 compared to Greg’s 32.
Following Ed’s jive, judge Bruno Tonioli said: “I will need to move to the Himalaya’s to recover from Ed Balls syndrome.

“You’re strangely addictive, but I have to admit to my surprise, most of it looked like a jive.”

However fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood disagreed with Bruno, he said: “It looked like you were playing hop-scotch in an all girls school.”

Greg started brightly with his jive, after media coverage confirmed the rumoured nerves the Olympian felt before dancing live.

He stuck his bottom out during his tango and got into character for his Robin Hood routine in Movie Week.

Some wobbles followed in his salsa and cha cha cha - but he came back on top with a Viennese waltz and his Blackpool quickstep.

He and partner Natalie Lowe had an emotional depature from the show.

The six surviving couples progress to week 10, and the ‘business end’ of the contest.
