A city teenager has collected her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at St James’ Palace from Prince Edward.
Hannah Holden, from Bow Brickhill, collected her award from The Prince who was helped by ex Blue Peter presenter and The Jump star, Anthea Turner.
She had the chance to chat with him about the expeditions she undertook in Wales last summer which included two, six day expeditions as a student of Aylesbury High School.
She walked 20 kilometres a day carrying everything she needed, including a tent and six days food rations. The treks involved wild camping and drinking from streams. As well as the treks, for the award, Hannah volunteered at Bow Brickhill Brownies, learnt to street dance, play guitar and sing and completed a five day conservation and adventure course in the Peak district. Hannah is now helping bronze and silver participants with their expeditions and training.
