Shopping bosses at intu Milton Keynes have donated £2,000 to Age UK Milton Keynes.

In late 2014, in line with intu’s long-term commitment to the communities served by its centres, the team at intu Milton Keynes asked local charities to apply for a grant to support a local project, with Age UK Milton Keynes being chosen.

The money will enable the charity to support elderly people across Milton Keynes; to keep them independent and allow them to live happily and healthily in their own home for as long as possible.

Kim Bond, home support coordinator for Age UK Milton Keynes, said: “This generous donation from intu Milton Keynes will pay for industrial-quality cleaning equipment and protective clothing for our Home Support staff.

“We will be able to clean the homes of older people who are unable to leave hospital because their home is not hygienic or safe for them. We will also be able to help more older people live independently, especially where they are at risk of going into care because they have no one to help them look after their property.”

Martin Hindson, General Manager at intu Milton Keynes, added: “We are delighted to be able to award this money to Age UK Milton Keynes. We are dedicated to supporting the local community and this charity does a fantastic job in helping older people in the area.”
