All Hands on Deck for Dementia Awareness Week

The inaugural All Hands on Deck event was held in Milton Keynes on Thursday, to coincide with Dementia Awareness Week.

People assembled at various locations across the city - at intu, thecentre:mk, the Kingston Centre and MK Theatre, to link hands and share memories of those who live with dementia, and their carers.

Each location also hosted a memory tree where members of the public tied forget-me-not paper flowers with messages remembering someone who has been affected by dementia.

Helpers wore t-shirts with a hand design created by the Dementia Arts Group based in the Kingston Centre, and MPs Iain Stewart and Mark Lancaster were among those showing their support for what is set to become an annual event.

They were joined by retailers, shoppers, students and representatives from the Dementia Action Alliance and live music was provided by Colin and Meriot from Aylesbury Singing for the Brain.
