Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham has added his concerns after Milton Keynes Hospital’s A&E department was criticised in a new patient survey.

This week the hospital received one of the worst ratings in the country in a nationmwide poll carried out by health regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

And speaking to the Citizen, Andy Burnham MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary, said: “This report will alarm people in Milton Keynes about what lies ahead in the coming months.

“Under this government, hundreds of people each wait are waiting too long at the local A&E department. This should have been ringing alarm bells in the Department of Health months ago but ministers have failed to listen and act on concerns raised.

“David Cameron’s abolition of guaranteed access to GP services and undermining of social care has left hospitals across England under intolerable pressure. He has trapped A&Es in a downward spiral.”
