Healthy turn-out at academy Health Fair

FIGHTING germs and getting fit was the focus for students who attended a Health Fair organised by the NHS School Nursing Team.

More than 500 Year 8 and 9 pupils at The Milton Keynes Academy received advice and information at the event from the Stantonbury Health Centre based team and other community health organisations.

Academy deputy director of business and enterprise, Debbie Gockelen, praised the usefulness of the Health Fair.

She added: “The students became more aware of their personal well-being and keeping safe, and it was a tremendously valuable experience for them.”

Organisations at the fair included Young Carers Milton Keynes, MK Council Trading Standards, Safer MK, Barnardos, MK Stop Smoking Service and The Parks Trust and Academy Studio 6 students gave advice on bullying.
