Our Pride in MK 2012 winner Charleigh Thompson reached another milestone when she started school on Monday.

The Fishermead heart transplant tot enjoyed her first day in the nursery class at Simpson’s Charles Warren Academy.

Almost exactly a year ago Charleigh, three, survived a ten-hour transplant operation at Great Ormond Street hospital.

Her own heart failed months earlier and she had been kept alive by a £100,000 artificial Berlin Heart machine.

This week her proud gran Yvonne Forbes said: “Charleigh will always be our little miracle .

“Seeing her all dressed in her uniform ready to start school was just wonderful,” she added.
