Active Kids 2012 voucher collection scheme has begun at Sainsbury’s Milton Keynes and Bletchley

Customers can now collect vouchers until Tuesday, April 10 and donate to registered nurseries, schools, Scout & Guide Groups and sports clubs.

Over £115m worth of active equipment and experiences have been donated to nurseries, schools, Scout & Guide Groups and sports clubs across the UK over the last seven years

Active Kids is back and Sainsbury’s customers have the chance to help children in Milton Keynes benefit from a more active and healthier lifestyle. The voucher collection process for this year’s campaign was launched on February 15.

Customers can then choose to donate their vouchers to registered nurseries, schools, Scout & Guide Groups and sports clubs in the MK area, who will be collecting the vouchers to exchange for Active Kids equipment and experiences.

Last year’s campaign was a huge success with over 6,000 new organisations signing up to the Active Kids scheme. Overall, over 46,000 organisations are now signed up to the scheme and in Milton Keynes area, there are now 277 registered organisations

In November, Sainsbury’s announced that world class athlete David Beckham would join Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games double gold medalist Ellie Simmonds as Active Kids ambassador. David said: “I’m proud to be a new ambassador for Active Kids. I love it when I hear that I’ve inspired a young person to try out a sport, and that’s what Active Kids is all about.”

Since Active Kids launched in February 2005, over £115 million* worth of equipment and experiences have been donated to nurseries, schools, Scout & Guide Groups and sports clubs.

It has never been easier for a registered organisation to choose the equipment they want, as this year the entire Active Kids range is available in one catalogue. Popular items available include the exclusive games kits (available in different sizes), which has equipment to accommodate a range of environments, from after-school clubs to P.E lessons.

Active Kids Manager Lindsay Burks hopes this year even more nurseries, schools, Scout & Guide Groups and sports clubs in the are will sign-up to the campaign. Lindsay said: “2012 is going to be one of the biggest years ever for sport in the UK. We are thrilled to have our Active Kids Ambassadors, David Beckham and Ellie Simmonds, to help raise the profile of the scheme, and inspire children across the UK to be active”

Registration is now open and organisations in the area can sign up to the scheme by going to www.sainsburys.co.uk/activekids
