Customers visiting Tesco in Wolverton this year will be invited to donate food to the third annual Neighbourhood Food Collection.
From November 29 the store will be joined by Foodbanks charity the Trussell Trust and food redistribution charity FareShare for the collection.
Customers will be given a special selected shopping list when they enter the store and will be asked to pick up an item of food such as longlife milk, cereal, tinned foods and tea and coffee, before donating it at the end of their shop. The food will then be transported to the local MK Food Bank, before being given to local people in times of crisis.
Graham Barnes, Store Manager at Wolverton Tesco said “Our customers were incredibly generous when we held our last food collection in the summer, so we are hoping to collect an even bigger total this time around. In our run up to Christmas we want to do our bit to feed those in need and volunteers from MK Foodbank and Tesco Retired Service Association are really looking forward to taking part in the collection.
Tesco will be topping up total donations by a further 30 per cent.
