They got into the racing spirit to join the hordes of people all over the country who watched the annual race.

The Busy Bees youngsters eagerly took part in their own races in the nursery garden.

The very youngest rode in their rocking horses.

Meanwhile, the pre-school children used brooms for horses.

Those running cantered around the course and even made it over a few jumps.

Nursery Manager, Lorraine Harben, said: “The children really enjoyed the day and all the fun activities we planned.

“The nursery has always encouraged the children to be active.”

As it is springtime she added: “It’s great to take part in activities outside in the nursery garden.”
