PLANS are already in place to cope with the cuts to the NHS budget at Milton Keynes Hospital.

The Trust is already forecasting a £5.5million deficit on its £160million turnover in the current year, mainly due to fewer patients attending hospital than expected.

Interim chief executive, Mark Millar, said: “The challenges faced by Milton Keynes Hospital are by no means unique and many other hospitals up and down the country will be looking at their own future.

“The important thing for Milton Keynes is that the NHS, Milton Keynes Council and local people get on the front foot to build a different, but better service for patients in the future.”
