A CITY pub is celebrating after being named as the best family restaurant in Milton Keynes.
The Hungry Horse in Broughton scooped the gong at the inaugural Milton Keynes Food & Leisure Awards on Sunday night.
The pub beat off competition from the likes of the Harvester, Frankie & Benny’s and Wagamama to lift the award at a special gala night at The Swan in Milton Keynes Village.
General Manager Mark Fitzsimon said news of the honour was ‘absolutely fantastic’.
“I am really chuffed for my team,” he said.
“It is recognition of all our hard work over the last year and is something we can work towards next year to retain it and improve our standards and service to all our customers.”
Asked why he felt The Hungry Horse had won, he added: “We offer value for money for all of the family.
“The kids have got their very own menu and they arrive to a free activity pack, including their own colouring pencils to keep them occupied while mum and dad can relax.
“They walk away with a balloon at the end of the day and we have got a fantastic outside play area for them.
“I just think it is a really, really good atmosphere for all the family every time they come in.”
The Hungry Horse is open from 11am to 11pm between Monday and Thursday, 11am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 12noon to 10.30pm on Sundays.
