GOALS are set to equal food when Euro 2012 comes to one city pub.

That’s because The Hungry Horse’s general manager Mark Fitzsimon has pledged to donate a tin of beans to charity The Food Bank every time a goal is scored in the tournament.

The Broughton-based pub, set to show every game from the European Championship, is hoping the move will give everyone plenty to cheer about.

The Food Bank, which is this newspaper’s charity of the year, provides people in economic difficulty with essential food supplies.

Mr Fitzsimon said: “We’re all really looking forward to the Euros.

“But we’re also aware that not everyone is as fortunate as we are. Even in an affluent city like Milton Keynes there are still many people living on the breadline.

“By donating a simple tin of beans for every goal scored in the tournament we’re hoping that our enjoyment can help those people as well. The Food Bank is a fantastic charity and we are really proud to support it in any way we can.”
