Inquiry launched after fatal fire

Thames Valley Police has launched an inquiry following a fatal house fire in Milton Keynes earlier this morning.

A fire broke out at a house in Shearmans, Fullers Slade, at about 12.50am today (20/5).

During the firefighting operation, the body of a 38-year-old man was found on the ground floor.

Senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Justin Fletcher said: “We are treating the incident as a suspicious fire.

“Although at this stage we do not believe there is any third party involvement we are keeping an open mind until the scene has been examined by our Scenes of Crime Officers and investigators from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.”

The scene is due to be examined this morning.

Formal identification of the man has not yet taken place and a post-mortem examination is not expected to be held today.
