A sports-mad seven-year-old is one of the regional finalists in The Face of the Globe competition.

Sunny-faced Leilani Rose Hallam lives at Littlestone Gate in Broughton and is in Year 2 at Broughton Field Primary School.

Proud mum Niah – a part-time trampoline instructor – is at pains to point out that this is a ‘natural’ pageant, so she happily gave her consent when Leilani asked if she could take part.

Niah, 31, said: “They don’t accept juniors and minis with fake tans and false nails so I finally agreed. This isn’t just based on looks, it’s also about personality and fundraising.

“She’s already got so many ideas about raising money, including cake sales and non-uniform days.

“She’s like most girls her age – she loves the limelight and is so outgoing.”

Leilani has two older brothers - Steven, 12 and nine-year-old Joshua – and they’re just as excited as she is about the competition.

If she wins in August, she’ll represent her country in Paris next year.
