Voluntary groups around the city are being given an opportunity to raise extra money, thanks to a new scheme from Councillor Brian White.
The new Mayor of Milton Keynes is looking to kick-start Mayor’s Monday in July, a project that will see charities and voluntary groups host events in restaurants across the city.
Mr White said: “It is something I have thought about for a long time. The idea is to help businesses and those in the voluntary sector.
“We are now trying to get charities who want to raise funds and match them with restaurants on their more quiet days
“If we get enough we would like to organise one every week. We are trying to raise the profile of charities and groups who need it and the restaurants who need the business. Everybody wins.”
And following on from the recent success of #LoveMK day, in the week leading up to each event Mayor’s Monday will be highlighted on Twitter using the hashtag #mayorsmonday.
Volunteers from charities or staff from city restaurants can apply by emailing email@example.com.
