THOUSANDS of women are being encouraged to sign up to Race for Life at its new venue of the National Bowl.
The targets for this year are 2,080 people for the 10km race with 6,240 hoped to sign up for the 5km event
With registration kicking off in the city on Saturday, February 12 organisers are hoping that mums, daughters, aunties, sisters and even grandmas will be encouraged to take part in either event.
Last year 5,650 women took part raising £329,302. This year it is hoped that over £650,000 will be raised for Cancer Research UK.
The race is considered to be the UK’s largest, women only event with all of the money going towards supporting the work of doctors, nurses and scientists.
Race for Life event manager, Victoria Meikle, said: “Race for Life in Milton Keynes is a unique celebration of sisterhood and pride. The atmosphere is amazing, with women from all walks of life coming together to make a positive difference to people affected by cancer.
“They motivate and inspire each other to complete the course with many simply walking round, chatting and having fun.”
City women can enter either of the races by registering on the website at www.raceforlife.org or by calling 0871 641 1111.
