And now JD Wetherspoon has confirmed the premises will be sold as part of its latest raft of closures.

A majority of the closures will occur in London and the south of England and comes after the popular budget gastropub announced the sale of 12 pubs last year.

Estate agents CBRE and Savills have announced they have been instructed to sell off or let out 45 Weatherspoon pubs either as individual sales or in groups, the Morning Advertiser first reported yesterday.

A spokesman on behalf of the joint agents said the David Garrick premises and the chain’s other pubs now on the market represent a ‘rare’ and potentially profitable opportunity for would-be buyers.

“The portfolio represents an extremely rare opportunity to acquire high volume managed houses in estabLished locations that have a high proportion of food sales,” the spokesman said.

“They should appeal to existing operators looking to expand, to new entrants looking for a major platform which can be used to build a successful managed house estate and to investors keen to gain further representation in the sector.”
