A Labour MP who hopes to become the next deputy leader of his party will visit Milton Keynes this evening.

Ben Bradshaw MP for Exeter will speak at MK Labour party’s members and supporter event in the Springfield Centre from 6.30pm.

When announcing his intention to run for the deputy position, Mr Bradshaw said: “Our deputy leader must be a loyal and trusted champion who fights for you, for our Party, and for our leader - whoever we choose.

“That’s the kind of deputy leader I’ll be.

“I’ve been loyal in public at our best and at our worst times, going out to bat in the media for our party and our leader when we needed it most.

“But I’ve also never been afraid to deliver hard truths in private when I thought we were going wrong.”

Mr Bradshaw is battling it out to be deputy leader against Stella Creasy MP, Caroline Flint MP and Tom Watson MP.

He is currently in last place, according to the polls, which say Creasy has a 4 point lead over Watson, with 31% choosing her for the job.

On August 20, Mr Bradshaw will return to the city for a hustings event with the other three rival candidates.

Members and supporters can attend the event at Warwick Road Activity Centre from 7.30pm until 9pm.

> Tonight’s event begins at 6.30pm until 8pm at the Springfield Centre on Springfield Boulevard.
