Two landlords who left a young family without central heating in winter were fined at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court on Friday.

Haider Tandail and Rabab Ebrahim, of Flowers Close, Cricklewood, London, were prosecuted for an offence under section 11 of The Housing Act 2004 after failing to comply with an improvement notice issued by private sector housing team at Milton Keynes Council.

The notice was served on December 16 because there was a category one hazard of excess cold due to the gas central heating system not working at a home in Oldbrook Boulevard, Oldbrook.

Mr Tandail and Mrs Ebrahim did not attend the court and so the case was proved in their absence.

Magistrates ordered them to pay a total of £1,248 that included fines of £400 each and MKC’s legal costs of £224 each.
