What better way to bring warmth and light to the chilly winter nights than joining volunteers and residents of the Parish of Wolverton and Greenleys on Saturday (December 3) from midday in The Square, Wolverton for their annual lantern festival.

Established 28 years ago, this winter tradition brings all parts of the community together to create lanterns and join the carnival atmosphere to parade the Victorian streets.

Highlights this year include giant willow and paper creations from Bushfield and Wyvern Schools, and The Square will be lit and decorated by Greenleys First School, and an after school club at Greenleys Junior School will set the streets alight.

The air will be filled with live music from the Wolverton Town Band, Rock Choir and from street bands Toque Tambor, Bushfield School and Lobo Tren.

Free childrens’ activities, circus skills workshops and performances from Concrete Circus as well as a Craft and Food Festive Fayre from midday will provide an afternoon of family fun.

“We’re delighted that through funding from the Wolverton and Greenleys Town Council, MK Community Foundation, Wolverton Arts and Science Fund, and the generosity of our friends and neighbours, we can welcome even more people to take part and enjoy our town’s winter tradition,” said committee chair Hannah Kitchen.
