THE festive season began in style on Saturday as Stony Stratford switched on its Christmas lights.
Hundreds turned out to watch the town light up and to enjoy the carnival of fun family entertainment that went on throughout the evening, with stalls, dancers, live music and a hog-roast.
Sam from The Golden Sea Chinese takeaway – the longest-serving business in Stony Stratford – had the honour of switching the lights on.
Businesses along the High Street welcomed people to enjoy festive window displays and late-night opening times, and MKAOS pantomine actors mingled among the crowds, and put on a condensed version of “The Little Mermaid & The Pirates.”
But the highlight of the day was the magnificent Children’s Lantern Procession, with 270 lanterns being walked through the town, celebrating a Cartoon Christmas.
